a overdue vote of confidence?
i’m pretty sure the whole malaysian blogging community (well at LEAST the kuchingites anyhow) has heard about the whole jeffooi / ahirudin aka rocky vs NSTP lawsuit.
which i think is a little unfair.
jeez. talk about the pot calling the kettle black. NSTP is sueing them for libel. *raised eyebrows*
so the courtroom battle complete with demonstrators, the press - even the ST!! - and all wages… and Malaysia is known for its exemplary record for freedom of speech once again.
malaysia boleh, indeed.
mmm… the other weird thing - to me anyhow, and im no lawyer - is that the bloggers can apparently get into trouble because of readers comments. blah. i know.. comments can be filtered, etc. but. the reason why its a COMMENT page is for people to bitch about your post.
and no blogger - no matter how free - can expect to monitor the comments posted every minute of every day (more so if its a popular blog with readership like 10k times of mine)
anyway few would bother with small fry (minute fry?) like me.
i really don’t think NSTP is going about it the right way. sueing bloggers (whom btw, provide much appreciated views of "the other side") is just going to get them more riled up. meaning more likely to insult/ignore mainstream media altogether. faced with dwindling readership…….. is it a good idea to like piss off the whole malaysian middle class who have some idea of "freedom of speech".
blah.
eve.
-just another blogger throwing her voice of support for jeff and rocky-

could’nt have said it better…..but NSTP sueing prominent bloggers just acknowledges the blogosphere as a major force…worthy of any mainstream newspapers….blast NSTP…

from eve: actually what amazes me even more is that jeffooi and rocky Are Still Blogging.

I’m not very clear of the whole story, i got bits and pieces of the whole picture.
I do not know what NSTP is planning to do after they win/lose but to sue the two bloggers? I mean, come on… They are a newspaper company! Being part of the controversy isn’t exactly the best idea. There should be a better way to solve this one.
It won’t be a good for NSTP even if they win or lose the case. Lol and to late to change that now.
Maybe i’m wrong, hopefully NSTP people are smart to know what to know what they are doing.
