one more week.

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

One more week to go of school before i get two weeks of slack-time.

Unfortunately… that one week includes 2 tests (maths and bio) as well as many many assignments due (eg, by monday i have to hand in bm essay, maths tutorial, bio-enzyme tutorial, and gp homework.) Needless to say i have not started either studying or doing my homework. fyi, one tutorial usually takes 2-3 hours… if im fast normally its more like 4-5 hours. which means… i need to start doin homework sometime soon. but saturday afternoons are the time to vegetate, so i prolly wont be able to get much done b4 dinner. well, theres always after dinner and sunday morning….

and i thought i would stop procastinating in singapore. hm… guess old habits die harder than i think.

some news…
chem test results for me : 32%. highest (that i know), >90%. dammit. and it was on MOle Concept. a.k.a. the thing we did in form 4. and usually regarded as review and revision only. sucks man.

other than that….

pe is getting harder. im actually getting muscle aches…. ’nuff said.

2nd orientation is coming up week-after next (part of my slack-time). its gonna be very very boring. trust me. lol. 1st orientation was fun… for about 1/10th of the time. the rest were either lame, wait time, or times tht i was too sleepy to take any interest in whatever was goin on (havent adjusted to sleep schedule… nop, i still havent gotten use to the sleep-times here yet… not even after 2 months)

2months… 2 months.

i cant believe ive been here for 2 months already. and in another 2 weeks+ time… SPM results will be out. *sigh* im getting nervous. i can start babbling about the mistakes i made and the things i think i did wrong in the exams for about an hour or so non-stop… but…. i dont think its a good idea to dwell on it. (since when did i ever listen to my own advice?..) its impossible not to think about it… tho the bio test is now competing with spm results for my attention.

i need to learn how to wash socks properly. seriously, my socks are now this uniformly grey colour. originally tehere were white but .. im not sure what happened to them. or issit just my bad-laundry skills.

talking about laundry.. we can now send laundry every single day. woot. which means i dont need to worry about timing my laundry deliverings anymore =D

and..

i forgot to mention one very important thing.

THE HOSTEL HAS JUST INSTALLED AIR CONDITIONING. AIR COn!!!!! which means…. im froze to death when i wake up. (despite having a comfortor and 2 blankets.) and theyre charging us $10 per month for aircon. which isnt bad, but… my poor money… (having already spent close to 1k $ round here in only 2 months, im beginning to think the scholarship is quite pricey lol)

btw… the reason i didnt blog last week (if anyone actually cared..) is cuz i was writing my entry for the commonwealth essay competition. 1st time i wrote so long b4 (it turned out to be 1600 words on a factual essay…) email me or message me if u would like a soft copy.

Singapore, week 8

remind me again why im doing this
remind me again what im doing here

who am i kidding trying to be someone im not?
or am i that someone just dont realise it yet.

long days, heavy workload, endless tutorials
last-minute homework left half done

roll call, budgeting, laundry, curfew,
a hundred and one minute things left to do

news from kl, news from home
everyone seems to be doing just fine
but me

though i cant really complain
cant put the finger on what is it exactly
that makes me feel this way
with five days of holiday
left to run
and me still in hostel
biding my time
ignoring my homework from 5 different subjects
ill catch up one day i will i swear

ive friends all around me
it isnt so bad
but mood swings are moodswings and hormone-controlled
i guess
im feeling a bit down
maybe its just for today
tomorrow i’ll wake up and itll be just fine

im stressed out right now
i can’t tell why
cuz there’s nothing urgent
for me to complete
and there’s no tests coming
for another one week
but im stressed i tell ya
i might, maybe, just quit…

surviving just barely think i’ll stay yet another day
term break’s in one month’s time hoping for jpa

i will live thru this its only for two years
a week and a month has gone by already

….. 22 months and three weeks left to go.

life goes on

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

I’m in the study room and the aircon is on and its freezing… hey most of the time i actually prefer it to be airconless (unless of cuz its hot and hazy).

ok… its time for a non-nostalgic, non-whiny (um… ok… 95% whine-free), non-ranty post. yep… this kinda posts are either a) boring or b) extremely boring. be glad (or sad) i dont write like this very often.

so… what does eve has to say that is not a complaint nor a reminisce about the past?

not a whole lot.

but since im here.. and i have free time on my hands… and im waiting for it to be closer to 10 pm so i can msn with ppl… im gonna blog about ~drum roll~ … The Subjects That MOE Never Really Informed Us That We Had To Take. got that? thought not.

*the misconception* "A levels is a levels whut… just study triple sci + maths and General Paper larh"

*the reality* "Whaaa? whats this… Physical Education?!? haaa? and BM.. AGAIN!?! 4 Hours Per Week? but why..? CIVICS? -cue groans about moral..- PROJECT WORK..? !?!?!?!?!? "

Yep, if you opt for ASEAN scholarship, be prepared to do PE (PJK), BM, Civics and Project Work ON TOP of your chosen subject combi. and one more thing… ur subject combi, must have at least one non-science subject (if ur in science stream), taken at at least subsidary level. for me its econs.

Maths
Chem
Phys
Bio
Econs (subsid level)
General Paper
Project Work
Mother Toungue Language (either Malay or Chinese)
Physical Education
Civics

Grand Total : 10

Its not as bad as it sounds (at least, it hasnt gotten as bad as it sounds YET).

i actually *dont mind* P.E. btw, it takes up 2 hours per week. And if we skip PE Without having a MC, we have to do make up PE. make-up consists of at least 2 + 10  400m rounds of running. so, better to attend — plus, its not that bad for me cuz the speed of running is slow. slow cuz we have to run in a group (or at least start the rounds in a group, after like 2 rounds it kinda seprates.. tho we’re not supposed to). and i normally stick to a 5 steps walk 5 steps jog routine =D. There’s actually a test for PE called NAFTA (dont ask me what it stands for) which we have to pass or else all our PE will be spent training to pass it (instead of playing games like everyone else…)

so thats PE.

Civics… is also known as "Time to Lepak with your classmates" *grin* or at least thats how its been so far. the teacher is there but we dont actually *do* much. so its quite relaxing (tho id much rather use the time to sleep, but u cant have everything can you?)

MALAY… um.. since i promised to keep this entry whine free i cant say much about it cuz my total opinion of it consists of one protracted whine. =D suffice to say that its the "LEts Brainwash Non-Singaporeans" class. as ive mentioned b4.

I cant comment on Project Work cuz i havent started the subject… will update… if i feel like it.

stress level getting back to normal.. i guess.. since ive started sleeping b4 roll call and asking my frens to cover for me. so im not really lacking sleep. which means ive LOST one excuse to whine. *grumble* LOL
